Travelling to The Fort

The Scout Centre is in the Dulwich Area of London, near Crystal Palace.

 

...by train

  • Take the train from London - Victoria, to Sydenham Hill Station.
  • Two trains each hour.  Journey time about 12 minutes.
  • It is a short walk, from Sydenham Hill Station, to the Scout Centre.
  • There is parking for cars, mini-bus or coach.

...by plane

Gatwick Airport

  • Gatwick Express train, to London Victoria.
  • From Victoria, take the train to Sydenham Hill Station.
  • Trains from Victoria run at 22 & 52 minutes past the hour.
  • Journey time is 12 minutes.

 

Heathrow Airport

  • Tube - Heathrow [Piccadilly Line] to Victoria, change at Barons Court [District Line].
  • Train - Heathrow Express to Paddington, then the tube [District or Circle Line] to Victoria.
  • Bus - Heathrow to Victoria Bus Station, [located opposite the railway station].
  • From Victoria, take the train to Sydenham Hill Station.

 

Stansted Airport

  • National Express Bus from Stansted to London Victoria.
  • Buses run every 20 minutes during the day, and 30 minutes at night.

  • From Victoria, take the train to Sydenham Hill Station

...by ferry (from Dover)

  • Leave Dover ferry terminal, going West towards Folkestone.
    Look for the M20 road sign, [M = Motorway]  
  • Stay on the M20, towards London, it will change to A20.
  • Stay on the A20, until you see signs for the A205 - South Circular Road.
  • Go West on the A205, towards Lewisham. 
    Pass through Forest Hill, stay on the A205, and go left, at Dulwich Common.  
    First set of traffic lights, turn left, into College Road.
  • Drive up College Road, until you come to a barrier across the road [Toll Gate].
  • Turn left into Grange Lane, go to the top, the first car park is for the Golf Course.
  • Go straight ahead for about 50m, turn left into Scout Centre.
  • If travelling by Bus turn right, onto the Sco ut Centre car park.  The bus should reverse into the Scout Centre.

 

Parking

There is sufficient parking, for all sizes of vehicles, including coaches. There are two car parks, the main parking area is on a field inside the main gate and is more secure.

Parking for coaches must be requested before your visit and is hard standing.
